Pink Ribbon Cake
For this cake I had wanted to use a Wilton Ribbon pan but I was unable to get one in time so I just used a knife and eye balled the shape. After all the trimming the ribbon was not very large so I put in onto a 9x13 fondant covered cake. I used edible pearls to add a little interest. The cake looked better in real life than in the picture but most cakes do.

Fall Cake
Today I made this cute fall cake for T to take to work tomorrow. I really think that it came out pretty cute. My original plan was to make fall leaves to put on the cake too but I though that it looked cute without them. I made all of the decorations with mm fondant. For the lettering I printed the words from the computer and then I put the paper against the cake and traced over the letters with a pencil. When I removed the paper there was a light imprint of the letters. I then used some brown food coloring mixed with a bit of vanilla extract and very fine brush and painted on the lettering. It is a pretty easy way to get nice straight lettering onto a cake quickly and easily. The little candy corn was also made with mm fondant. Just took strips of the 3 colors, put them together and cut the little triangle shapes. So cute I put them all over the bottom tier.

Yellow Quilted Cake with Flowers
This is the first cake that I've made since we've been in Texas. The climate here made the fondant stickier and the chocolate ganache that I attempted to put into the first layer became soup inside the cake. I ended up having to scrape most of the ganache out of the cake and put in cherry filling. The first tier is french vanilla cake and so it is now filled with a thin layer of ganache and cherries. The second tier is white almond with raspberry filling and that came out great in this climate. I had to cover the first tier twice because of my melting ganache filling mess. Even now the fondant on the first tier is not perfect. Even with central air the house was just too warm for chocolate. I guess if I want to make any more chocolate fillings I will have to wait until January, which the locals say gets cold enough to wear a coat. Also, because we just moved here and I don't have all my cake supplies I didn't have any food coloring on hand so I mixed lemon Kool-aid powder with the frosting to make the yellow to pipe happy birthday. It looks pretty good but the Kool-aid made the frosting so sour it is like an atomic war head candy. The kids, who love super sour, enjoyed the leftover yellow frosting. Tim said that the sour frosting may ruin the cake, but I think that there is really not enough on the cake to make a big difference.

Chinese Dragon Cake
I am told that 2012 is the year of the dragon. I made these dragons with gumpaste. They came out pretty cute I think.
This is a grocery store cake. I just decorated it!
Hello Kitty Cake Pops
Tonight I made a bunch of these cute little cake pops for my little Emma to take to school tomorrow to celebrate her birthday. Emma helped me to make them up until she had to go to bed. She is a good little helper. We found the idea for these from Bakerella- she has lots of cute cake pop ideas. We copied hers the best we could. I think that they came out pretty darn cute!
